Jacob Joseph Egan, 40, passed away at home Sept. 5, 2024, after a long, hard-fought battle with alcoholism.
Services in both Redding, Calif. and Paris, Ill. are pending.
Mr. Egan was born on May 10, 1984, to David Egan and Joan Stroot who both survive.
He leaves behind a brother, Daniel Egan; a sister, Kelly Scarborough; brother-in-law, Scott Scarborough; aunts and uncles Sharon (Bob) Bailey, Jerry (Lori) Egan, Bob (Sharon) Egan, Elizabeth (Kate), Ed (Deanna), Lois (Javier) ,Bob, Kathleen (Sean) and Greg (Julie); cousins Missy, Melanie, Lindsey, Cody, Sara, Isabella, Lucas, Perry, Jackson, Alexander, Maeve and many other relatives.
He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Clara, Isaac, Judah and Sadie Scarborough whom he loved as his own.
Mr. Egan lived in Paris, Ill. most of his life, spending time in Terre Haute, Ind. and Indianapolis, Ind. He most recently lived in Redding, Calif. and was employed by R&R Meats.
With help from his friends and family, Mr. Egan tried desperately to overcome the battle, to no avail.
Mr. Egan was an extremely talented musician who played in several area bands and wrote/recorded his own music for more than 20 years. He had a divergent sense of humor and made friends everywhere he went. Despite his challenges, he always put others first and was loved by so many.
Family and friends will think of him always, especially when seeing Hot Wheels cars, Nerf Blasters, magic cards, interesting t-shirts, fruit snacks, guitars, tattoos, hot sauce, repeated movies, thought-provoking comedians, the Chicago Bears and any type of meat.
His parents remain grateful God picked him to be their son.
