Paris fire chief Chad Crampton issued a public statement on Wednesday, April 9, stating the Katie Inn, located at 118 E. Court Street in Paris, has been closed due to significant health and safety concerns. All residents of the inn have been evicted from the premises.

“Multiple water leaks, potentially involving sewage, have been identified throughout the building. Water has been observed dripping from the ceiling in first floor rooms, raising serious sanitation and structural issues,” Crampton said.

The Illinois State Plumbing Inspector has issued a red tag on the property until necessary repairs are completed by a licensed plumber and the facility is brought up to code. A timeline for the repairs has not been established.
