Pearman’s Pharmacy robbed over lunch hour

A single individual pulled off a daylight robbery of Pearman’s Pharmacy early Monday afternoon.

Paris Police Chief Mike Henness says the authorities were notified at 12:35 p.m. that a robbery just occurred at the pharmacy on the Paris Square. The suspect had already fled the scene when officers arrived.

Employees at the pharmacy told police a single, black male wearing a black hoodie handed them a note demanding drugs. Employees complied by giving him painkillers, but Henness declined to provide specific details about what was taken, since that information is part of an active investigation.

“No weapon was brandished, but one was implied in the note,” said Henness.

After receiving the drugs, the suspect left in a small, silver-colored vehicle.

Pertinent information about the robbery was broadcast to neighboring law enforcement agencies and local officers visited other pharmacies in town to alert staff members of what happened.

“At 3 p.m., Indiana time, an Indiana State Trooper spotted the vehicle on I-70 and gave pursuit,” Henness said. “The pursuit ended and the suspect was apprehended after a motor vehicle wreck with no injuries.”

According to Henness, the Indiana authorities arrested Shawn Michael Cabellero, and he is being held at the Vigo County Jail, Terre Haute, Ind.

“Our detective is going to Vigo County tomorrow (Tuesday) to interview him,” Henness said.
