HIGHLAND – Elaine R. Frisse, 93, of Highland, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center, Highland.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Scott A. Snider as the celebrant. Interment is in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, and again from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frisse was born July 31, 1924, at Highland, the daughter of Albert J. and Coletta C. Weber Apken. She married Edwin “Ed” Michael Frisse June 1, 1946, at St. Paul Catholic Church, and he passed away Dec 3, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her father Sept. 17, 1987, and her mother Sept. 18, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, David M. (Doris) Frisse of Paris and Mark E. (Tina) Frisse, M.D. of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Sue E. (Bill) Sullivan, of Highland;
grandchildren, Megan C. Sullivan of Takoma Park, Md., William Andrew (Stephanie) Sullivan of Highland; Elizabeth A. Frisse, M.D. of Saint Louis, Mo., Caitlin M. Sullivan, of Highland and Ann C. Frisse, M.D. of New York City, N.Y.; great-grandchild, Cora K. Sullivan of Highland; brother, James A. Apken of Highland; and cousin, Sheila Weber of Highland.
Mrs. Frisse was raised in Highland and graduated from St. Paul High School at Highland in 1942. She went to business school and worked for Endicott Johnson Company in St. Louis as a private secretary, prior to having children. She played the piano at nursing homes for Masses and was an avid bridge player.
She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars 5694 Auxiliary and was a former member of Highland Women's Club, Daughters of Isabella and St. Anne Altar Society.
