Crestwood OKs amended budget
The Crestwood school board approved an amended budget during its meeting Wednesday to better reflect the district’s categorical revenue.
Crestwood principal and superintendent-designate Danette Young explained the amended budget is necessary to reflect the district will only be receiving one of the four categorical payments from the state.
The amended budget is available for public inspection for the next 30 days. A budget hearing is set for 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, for final approval of the amended budget.
Young reported there were no snow days this school year so the last day of school will be May 23. An in-service day for teachers and staff is planned May 24. That will be the last day of attendance for teachers, she said.
The last month of school is always busy, she said, noting Pioneer Days was Thursday while 19 Crestwood students are participating in the IESA Class A state track meet in Peoria.
Other important dates include the annual athletic banquet Tuesday, presentation of the American Legion Good Citizenship Award Thursday and honors day May 23. Eighth grade graduation is set May 24.
Young reported the school’s fourth and fifth graders raised $945 in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event and that 27 units of blood were collected during the annual school blood drive, planned by school nurse Terri Elledge Crippes.
A walkathon in support of Relay for Life in honor of teacher Patrease Henson was also held with $2,474.49.
