Michael Marchello

Michael Joseph Marchello, 70, of Chrisman, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was retired having worked longer than 20 years at Archer Daniels Midland Company and following his retirement, Mr. Marchello enjoyed operating a number of small businesses including Marchello Spray Service.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Templeton Funeral Home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1950, in Highland,the son of the late George Joseph and Juanita Willman Marchello. He married Mary Nave on Aug. 29, 1970, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville. She survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Nicholas Jason (Tara) Marchello of Kansas City, Mo. and Timothy Joseph Marchello of Blue Springs, Mo.; three brothers, Anthony “Gus” Marchello, Thomas (Janelle DuBois) Marchello and Mark (Cheryl) Marchello, all of Smithboro; and nieces and nephews Zach and Ashley Marchello, Claire Ellsworth and Joe Marchello.

Mr. Marchello earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Eastern Illinois University in 1973, and his master’s in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois in 1975. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the Paris Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Marchello was a hard worker who farmed in his younger years. Later, he enjoyed the challenges and personal interaction of his small businesses. He most recently enjoyed making and selling barn-wood crafts.

Outgoing, sociable, and generous, Mr. Marchello was often found volunteering and working behind the scenes to care for the needs of others. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and a fiercely devoted father who never stopped providing for his family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Compassionate Food Pantry or the Paris Knights of Columbus.
