Richard Kenneth Winans, 81, of rural Paris, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at his residence. He was a retired farmer.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Templeton Funeral Home.

Mr. Winans was born June 24, 1940, in Paris, the son of the late Kenneth and Martha Brinkerhoff Winans.

Survivors include a sister, Rita (Paul) Kruse of Longmont, Colo.; a nephew, Jeremy (Melissa) Kruse of East Nassau, N.Y.; a niece, Lori (Jeff) Carson of Spring Hill, Fla.; two great-nephews, Emmett Carson and Jackson Kruse; and an extended family of cousins and good friends.

Mr. Winans was a 1958 graduate of Chrisman High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard as part of the 1544th Transportation Company.

He was a member of the former Edgar Methodist Church and later attended Grace Fellowship Church of Paris. In recent years, he attended Marshall Baptist Church.
