Oct. 21, at 8:42 a.m., Frankie L. Doughty, 27, Clinton, Ind., was arrested at Wal-Mart and First Farmers Bank and Trust and charged with driving under the influence. Doughty was transported to the Edgar County Jail pending posting of bond.

Oct. 22, at 11:58 a.m., a two-vehicle accident with injury occurred at Jefferson and Jasper. The first vehicle involved was a 2005 Chevrolet Utility driven by Amber L. Carey, 36, 329 Chestnut Street. The second vehicle was a 2007 Ford convertible driven by Martin O. Tarter, 60, Chrisman. Both vehicles sustained damages, and both drivers were transported to Horizon Health. Carey was later cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and released on a notice to appear in court.

 

Paris Fire Department

Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m., the department was dispatched to 1700 N 1300th for a combine and field fire involving approximately 40 acres. Fire crews protected two building and extinguished the fire. No damage estimate was available.

Oct. 14, at 3:59 p.m., the department was dispatched to 900th and 1100 E for a fire in bean stubble. The fire eventually extended to 1300 N and involved an estimate of 800 to 1,000 acres of field stubble and standing corn and beans.

Oct. 14, at 4:26 p.m., the department was dispatched to 3324 N 1000th Street for a bean field fire. The fire was extinguished.

Oct. 14, at 5:51 p.m., the department was dispatched to 950th Street, west of state Route 1 for a ditch fire.

Oct. 14, at 7:10 p.m., the department was dispatched to 1795 N 1875th Street for a combine fire.

Oct. 15, at 4:42 a.m., the department was dispatched to a location on state Route 133, west of the Conlogue Road for a field fire. The fire was extinguished.

Oct. 15, at 9:30 a.m., the department was dispatched for an activated alarm, no address was provided. On scene, it was determined the detector was faulty.

Oct. 16, at 10:12 a.m., the department was dispatched to 3324 N 1000th Street for a report of smoke in the area. Firefighters found someone burning brush again. The fire was extinguished. The Oliver Station of the Paris Community Fire Protection District also responded to the call.

Oct. 16, at 11:39 a.m., the department was dispatched to 7867 E 1500th Road for a combine and field fire. On scene, firefighters found a burning combine and approximately one-acre of burned standing corn. The Redmon Station of the Paris Community Fire Protection District and the Chrisman Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Oct. 17., at 1:38 p.m., the department was dispatched to 113 Andrew for a smoke investigation. On scene, firefighters found a cigarette smoldering in a pile of wood chips.

Oct. 17, at 6:13 p.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 17, at 7:10 p.m., the department was dispatched to 22017 E 600th Road for a four-wheeler that turned over. The patient was transported to the Vermilion Station of the Paris Community Fire Protection District and airlifted from that location.

Oct. 19, at 12:18 p.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 19, at 3:03 p.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 19, at 4:55 p.m., the department was dispatched to 507 S. Central for a structure fire. On scene, firefighters encountered flames on the first floor and heavy smoke on the second floor. The Oliver and Vermilion Stations of the Paris Community Fire Protection District also responded to the scene. The fire is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshall.

Oct. 20, at 1:39 p.m., the department was dispatched back to 507 S. Central for a smoldering fire that rekindled in an upstairs apartment from the fire the previous day.

Oct. 20, at 4:57 p.m., the department was dispatched to Cargill, 616 S. Jefferson, for an automatic alarm. No problems were found.

Oct. 21, at 12:06 a.m., the department was dispatched to 809 N. Austin for a reported extension cord fire. No problems were found on scene.

Oct. 21, at 11:29 a.m., the department was dispatched to The Prairie Press, 101 N. Central, for a smell of natural gas. Firefighters located a leak in the gas meter and released the scene to an AmerenCIPS employee, who made repairs.

Oct. 21, at 6:05 p.m., the department was dispatched back to the fire scene at 507 S. Central to assist the state fire marshal.

Oct. 22, at 1:23 a.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 22, at 11:56 a.m., the department was dispatched to Jefferson and Jasper for a two-vehicle accident. Firefighters assisted with loading two patients in the Horizon Health EMS ambulances.

Oct. 22, at 6:48 p.m., the department was dispatched to 1405 Hunter for a carbon monoxide investigation. Firefighters found an elevated level of CO and shut off the stove.

Oct. 22, at 7:07 p.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 22, at 20:37 p.m., the department was dispatched to 231 E. Madison for carbon monoxide investigation.

Oct. 23, at 1:11 a.m., the department was dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Oct. 23, at 6:10 a.m., the department was dispatched to the 500 block of East Madison in Chrisman for a reported structure fire. The call was canceled en route.
