The Edgar County Highway Department will begin a roadway improvement project on Lower Terre Haute Road (CH 4) later this month.
The three-mile project will include hot mix asphalt resurfacing and stabilized shoulders along Lower Terre Haute Road from just south of Wal-Mart to 575th Road. Work is scheduled to begin Sept. 23 and is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.
Motorists should expect delays due to intermittent lane closures throughout the project. The highway department encourages drivers to use alternate routes when possible.
In addition to the resurfacing project, a one-mile section of Lower Terre Haute Road between Potts Lane (800th Road) and 700th Road will be closed to all traffic for five days from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.
A detour will be available during the closure, though motorists are again encouraged to seek alternate routes.
