Paris Police officers and Horizon Health emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash at the corner of Main and Carroll Street in Paris around noon, Tuesday, Dec. 19. Emergency responders briefly closed down Main Street to clean up debris and check on vehicle occupants.

Currently, the west lane of Main Street is closed, but Paris Chief of Police Terry Rogers told a Prairie Press reporter he believed the road would be cleared within 10 to 15 minutes.

Details surrounding the cause of the accident are still scarce. A Prairie Press reporter saw two individuals taken by stretcher for further examination. The extent of the injuries sustained during the crash is currently unclear.

The crash resulted in extensive damage to a nearby street sign marking the intersection, which was knocked over completely.

The Prairie Press will update this story as more information becomes available.
