The third individual charged in connection with an incident on Friday, April 3, at White Oaks Park in Paris made their first appearance in Edgar County court on Monday, April 20.
Jayden A. Reynolds, 21, of Effingham, Ill., was charged with a hate crime and illegal sale/delivery of a firearm to a felon, both Class 3 felonies with possible penalties of up to 30 months probation or two to five years (five to 10 years extended term eligible) in the Department of Corrections, to be served at 50 percent, with a mandatory supervised release period of six months.
According to court documents, in count one, Reynolds is accused of “committing the offense of mob action when he, while acting together with Jordan Kollman and Jesse Kollman, without authority of law, disturbed the public peace in a public park being White Oaks Park in Paris, by the use of force and violence when they repeatedly used racial slurs, threatened the victims and discharged a firearm at or in the immediate vicinity of the victims.”
In count two, Reynolds is accused of “knowingly sold, delivered or transferred a firearm to a person whom he knew or had reasonable cause to believe was prohibited from possessing a firearm under Illinois law, when he provided a Derya Arms Meriva 12-gauge pump action shotgun to Jordan J. Kollman, a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing a firearm.”
Judge Lewis appointed attorney Rich Cash to represent Reynolds for the duration of the case.
Reynolds will appear in court, along with Jordan Kollman and Jesse Kollman, at 10 a.m., April 24, for a preliminary hearing.
